Vintage Tamegroute Footed Planter
Our range of Tamegroute pottery is designed to be cherished. This Moroccan vintage Tamegroute footed plant pot would make the perfect addition to any indoor or outdoor space and can be mixed and matched across our range.
Created by hand in Morocco, every Tamegroute ceramic planter is completely unique depending on the amount of glaze applied by the individual craftsperson, and where it has been placed in the oven. One percent of copper has been added to the glaze, giving the piece its distinctive green colouring. The unique features and imperfections of each planter give them their unique character and tell the story of Tamegroute.
This piece was created in the region of Tamegroute, South Morocco, just above the immense Sahara Desert. In the Berber language, Tamegroute means ‘last place before the desert’ and was the last stop for the caravans who travelled across the desert on camels. Within the town there are seven ovens belonging to seven pottery families – with each relative passing the art form down to the next generation.
