Vintage Tamegroute Two Earring Vase
Our range of Tamegroute pottery is designed to be cherished. This Moroccan Vintage Tamegroute Large Ceramic Vase would make the perfect addition to any dining table and can be mixed and matched across the range.
Created by hand in Morocco, every Tamegroute Ceramic Vase is completely unique depending on the amount of glaze applied by the individual craftsperson, and where it has been placed in the oven. One percent of copper has been added to the glaze, giving the piece its distinctive green colouring. The unique features and imperfections of each bowl give it its unique character and tell the story of Tamegroute.
This piece was created in the region of Tamegroute, South Morocco, just above the immense Sahara Desert. In the Berber language, Tamegroute means ‘last place before the desert’ and was the last stop for the caravans who travelled across the desert on camels. Within the town there are seven ovens belonging to seven pottery families – with each relative passing the art form down to the next generation.
Special Note:
Our vases make beautiful decorative pieces. They can also be used as a vase with water and flowers inside. They are 90% waterproof but will sometimes contain small hairline cracks which may leak small amounts of water - although many are 100% waterproof. As a precaution you can place an inner lining when using water, such as a cut off plastic mineral water bottle.
